Air Conditioning in Cornwall
Cornwall summers are getting warmer — Met Office records show 2022 and 2025 both broke regional high temperature records, and properties along the south coast (Falmouth, St Mawes, Mevagissey) have been hitting 32°C+ for several days a year. Modern domestic air conditioning is no longer a luxury: a properly sized inverter-driven split system delivers cooling in summer AND efficient heating in winter at COP figures of 4.0–5.0 — making it one of the cheapest forms of supplementary heating you can run. CCS Heating & Renewables installs F-Gas certified air conditioning across all property types in Cornwall: single-room wall splits in bedrooms and home offices, multi-split systems for whole-house comfort, ducted systems hidden in loft voids for clean architectural finishes, and ceiling cassettes for retail and commercial spaces. Holiday let owners increasingly specify air conditioning to compete in the premium-stay market and command higher nightly rates during heatwaves. We design every system around your specific room sizes, glazing, orientation, and noise sensitivity — and we hide pipework wherever possible so the install looks professional, not industrial.
Key Benefits
Why Install Air Conditioning?
Summer Cooling + Winter Heating
Modern inverter heat pumps reverse-cycle to provide both — cooling at 30°C+ outdoor temperatures and efficient heating down to -15°C. COP 4–5 makes them cheap to run.
A+++ Energy Efficiency
Top-tier units from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Samsung achieve A+++ ratings — typical 12,000 BTU systems consume 700-900W in cooling and run for pence per hour.
Quiet Operation
Modern units run at 19–24 dB indoors (whisper quiet) and 45–55 dB outdoors. Permitted Development applies to most domestic outdoor units sited >1m from boundaries.
Smart Wi-Fi Control
Schedule cooling, monitor energy use, and integrate with Apple Home, Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Pre-cool before you get home from work.
Higher Holiday Let Rates
Properties advertising air conditioning command 8–18% premium nightly rates in peak season. Payback in 3-5 seasons for established letting properties.
F-Gas Certified Install
CCS engineers are F-Gas qualified for refrigerant handling — a legal requirement. Every install is registered and documented.

Air Conditioning Costs
A single-room wall split system installed in Cornwall costs £1,500–£2,800 supplied and fitted depending on capacity (typical 2.5–5kW), brand, and pipework run length. Multi-split systems serving 2–4 rooms run £3,500–£7,500. Ducted systems with concealed indoor units in loft or ceiling voids cost £4,000–£9,000 per zone. Ceiling cassettes for retail and offices: £2,000–£3,500 per unit. Commercial VRV/VRF systems for hotels and offices are quoted per project. Note: air conditioning is currently 20% VAT (unlike domestic solar/heat pumps at 0% VAT), but the installation cost is offset by very low running costs — a typical bedroom split costs around 8–12p per hour to run in cooling mode.
