The Challenge
The extension was built with a concrete floor slab, with the screed already poured before the UFH decision was finalised. A low-profile overlay system was needed to avoid raising the floor level above the existing internal threshold.
Our Solution
We installed a low-profile 18mm overlay underfloor heating system using aluminium heat-diffuser plates. The system was connected to the existing Daikin heat pump via a new manifold and zone valve, adding a single zone to the existing controls. Total floor thickness added was just 18mm.
The Outcome
The kitchen-diner now heats from a cold start (14°C) to a comfortable 21°C in under 45 minutes. The homeowners report it is now their favourite room in winter. Running cost is minimal given the low flow temperatures from the heat pump.
System Installed
Wunda 15mm pipe overlay UFH system, 1-zone manifold, Heatmiser neoStat-e thermostat, connection to existing Daikin Altherma 3
