Gas Safe Register
The official UK register of qualified gas engineers, replacing CORGI in 2009. Mandatory for any gas appliance work.
The Gas Safe Register is the official register of qualified gas engineers in Great Britain, the Isle of Man and Guernsey. It replaced CORGI in April 2009 and is operated by Capita on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Anyone working on gas appliances — boilers, gas hobs, gas fires, LPG installations — must be Gas Safe registered, with the specific qualification (ACS) for that appliance type. Working on gas without registration is a criminal offence under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
Cornwall has roughly 20% mains-gas coverage (concentrated in Truro, Falmouth, Camborne-Pool-Redruth, St Austell, Bodmin), so Gas Safe work is a smaller share of our diary than oil. All CCS heating engineers are Gas Safe registered with relevant ACS qualifications. Check any engineer's status at gassaferegister.co.uk. See our boiler installation page.
