Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) — legacy
The closed-to-new-applicants tariff scheme (2014-2022) that paid quarterly payments over 7 years for renewable heating installations.
The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) closed to new applications on 31 March 2022 and was replaced by the upfront-grant Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Existing RHI claimants continue to receive quarterly tariff payments for the full 7-year contract period.
If you have an RHI heat pump installed in Cornwall between 2014 and 2022, your tariff is locked at the rate at the time of accreditation: typically around 10.85p/kWh for ASHPs and 21.55p/kWh for GSHPs (with subsequent CPI uplifts). Payments are based on deemed heat use from your EPC, not metered output, unless you are on the metering-for-payment route.
It is worth checking your RHI account on the Ofgem portal annually to ensure your bank details and contact info are correct. CCS can service and maintain any RHI-era heat pump in Cornwall — call 01209 596 002. See our heat pump servicing page.
