Octopus Intelligent Flux

A smart import/export tariff from Octopus that automatically charges and discharges your home battery to maximise export earnings and minimise import costs.

Octopus Intelligent Flux is one of the smartest tariffs in the UK market. Octopus's Kraken platform connects directly to compatible home batteries (Tesla Powerwall, GivEnergy, Fox ESS, Solax, Sunsynk and an expanding list) and dispatches them automatically: charging from the grid in cheap overnight windows (typically 23:30-05:30 at around 7p/kWh) and exporting at peak (16:00-19:00 at typically 25-35p/kWh).

For a Cornwall solar customer with a 10kWh battery, Intelligent Flux can shift earnings from £270/year on a flat SEG tariff to £600-900/year, depending on battery size and roof orientation. The catch is that you give Octopus dispatch control of the battery — you can override but the algorithm is doing the work.
