Sigenergy SigenStor Installation in Cornwall
Sigenergy SigenStor — the world's first integrated solar inverter, battery storage and EV charger in a single elegant tower. CCS is a Sigenergy Premium Installer for Cornwall.
Sigenergy is the most innovative new entrant in the UK home energy market. Founded in 2022 by ex-Huawei engineers, the company has built the world's first genuinely all-in-one home energy system: the SigenStor combines a hybrid solar inverter, modular lithium battery storage, and an integrated 11kW or 22kW EV DC fast charger in a single floor-standing tower roughly the footprint of a kitchen bin. CCS Heating & Renewables is a Sigenergy Premium Installer, with full training across the SigenStor EV (DC-charging variant) and SigenStor (battery-only variant) ranges. For Cornish homeowners installing solar, storage and an EV charger together — increasingly the norm in our 2026 quotations — the SigenStor eliminates the messy collection of separate units traditionally needed (string inverter on one wall, battery cabinet on another, EV charger outside) and replaces them with one beautifully designed integrated tower. Battery capacity scales modularly from 8kWh to 48kWh per stack, with up to four stacks paralleled for very large installations (192kWh+). The integrated DC EV charger is the standout feature — it charges your EV directly from solar DC power without the AC-DC-AC-DC conversion losses that plague competitor systems, achieving 98% solar-to-vehicle efficiency vs around 85% for AC-charging EVs from a battery. Combined with the slick Sigenergy app and competitive pricing (typically 15–25% below an equivalent Tesla + Zappi setup), the SigenStor is rapidly becoming our most-recommended new-installation choice in Cornwall.

The all-in-one architecture
The traditional home energy retrofit involves three separate units: a hybrid solar inverter (typically wall-mounted in a utility room or garage), a battery cabinet (often nearby), and a tethered EV charger (mounted on an outside wall). Each requires its own consumer unit connection, its own commissioning, its own monitoring app, and its own warranty support. The SigenStor consolidates all three into a single floor-standing tower with one set of wiring, one app, one warranty contact and one set of commissioning paperwork.
The space saving alone is meaningful in tight Cornish utility rooms. The aesthetic improvement is significant — Sigenergy's brushed-aluminium tower looks deliberately designed (it has won international product design awards) rather than the typical bolted-together battery cabinet appearance. And the operational simplicity benefits homeowners with one app, one user interface, one set of firmware updates.
DC EV charging — the unique advantage
Most home EV chargers (including Zappi and Ohme) deliver AC power to your car at 7.4kW or 22kW (single or three-phase). The car's onboard charger then converts AC back to DC to charge the battery — losing typically 10–12% in conversion. With solar PV and home battery storage, the energy flow becomes even more wasteful: solar generates DC, the inverter converts to AC for the home, the battery converts AC back to DC for storage, the battery converts DC back to AC for export to the EV charger, the EV charger transmits AC to the car, the car converts AC back to DC for the battery. That's five conversion stages.
The SigenStor's integrated DC charger eliminates the wasted conversions. Solar DC and battery DC connect directly to the car's DC fast-charging port (CCS2 connector), achieving end-to-end efficiency of around 98%. For high-mileage Cornish EV drivers, this typically saves 400–600 kWh per year of solar generation that would otherwise be lost to conversion — worth £100–£150/year on top of the convenience and faster charging speeds.
Modular battery scaling
SigenStor battery capacity scales in 8kWh increments per module. A typical Cornish residential install starts at 8kWh or 16kWh and can grow to 48kWh per tower over time. Adding a battery module is a 30-minute job for a CCS engineer — slot the new module into the tower, the system auto-detects and integrates it, and capacity grows immediately. No master-controller swap, no rewiring.
For larger Cornish properties or off-grid-leaning installs, multiple SigenStor towers can be paralleled. The largest configuration we've quoted in Cornwall is 4 towers totalling 192kWh storage and 88kW continuous AC output — comfortably handling a large country house with heat pump, multiple EVs and full whole-home backup.
Whole-home backup and EPS
Sigenergy's whole-home backup capability is genuinely competitive with Tesla Powerwall 3. The SigenStor supports up to 22kW continuous AC output (single tower) or 88kW (4 towers), with seamless 10ms islanding from grid faults. Configured with the Sigen Gateway, the system can power your entire Cornish home — heat pump, EV charger, all lighting and appliances — from stored energy plus available solar.
For Cornwall's storm-prone rural areas (Bodmin Moor, the Lizard, West Penwith, North Cornwall coast), whole-home backup is a genuinely valuable feature. We've configured SigenStor backup systems for clients who experienced multi-day power cuts during storms Babet and Eunice and wanted resilience for the next big Atlantic blow.
Cornwall installations and Octopus integration
The Sigenergy mySigen app integrates natively with Octopus Cosy, Flux, Agile and Intelligent Go via the Octopus API. Battery charge/discharge schedules and EV charging schedules optimise automatically against your tariff. Solar surplus prioritises battery first, then EV, then export — with user-configurable priorities. CCS configures the full setup during commissioning.
Installation typically takes 1–2 days for a battery-only SigenStor, 2–3 days for a SigenStor EV with new solar PV. We handle DNO G98/G99 notification, Sigenergy warranty registration, and full app setup. See our battery storage and EV charger installation pages.
