NICEIC / STROMA Notification
The Building Regulations Part P notification of electrical work in dwellings, made by a registered competent person via NICEIC, STROMA, NAPIT or ELECSA.
Notifiable electrical work in a dwelling under Building Regulations Part P (England) must be either notified to building control or self-certified by a competent person scheme member. The dominant schemes are NICEIC, STROMA, NAPIT and ELECSA. CCS engineers are NICEIC-registered for domestic and commercial electrical installations.
For renewable installs in Cornwall, notification typically applies to: a new EV charger circuit, a solar PV consumer-unit modification, a battery storage system installation, or a heat pump immersion or controls supply. Self-certification submits within 30 days, the homeowner receives a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate (BRCC), and the work is added to the central database.
Without notification, the work is technically unlawful and may invalidate property insurance and create issues at future sale. Always insist your installer can provide a BRCC. See our accreditations page.
