MCS Certification
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme — the UK quality standard required for installers of grant-funded renewable systems including heat pumps and solar PV.
MCS Certification is mandatory for installers if you want to claim the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, the Smart Export Guarantee, or any local authority retrofit funding. It covers both the installer company and the products being fitted.
Becoming MCS certified requires the installer to pass an annual on-site audit, demonstrate technical competence in heat loss calculations and system design, hold consumer protection through a body like RECC or HIES, and provide an Insurance-Backed Guarantee. Each installation produces an MCS certificate that is uploaded to the central database within 10 working days, giving you a permanent digital record.
CCS Heating & Renewables holds MCS certification for ASHPs, GSHPs, solar PV and battery storage. Our MCS installer number is provided on every quote. Without it, no BUS grant can be claimed — so always check the MCS database before signing with any installer. See our accreditations page.
