MCS Installer Number
A unique identifier issued by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme to every certified installer, used on all certificates and grant claims.
An MCS Installer Number is a unique five- or six-digit identifier issued by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme to every certified installer company. It appears on every MCS certificate, every BUS grant claim, every SEG registration, and is the way to verify an installer is legitimate.
You can check any installer's MCS number on the public MCS database at mcscertified.com — search by company name, postcode or installer number to confirm certification status, scope (heat pump, solar PV, biomass, etc.) and any open complaints.
Always cross-check before signing. Many cold-call installers in Cornwall claim "MCS approved" loosely without actually holding certification — only an MCS-certified installer can claim the BUS grant for you. CCS displays our MCS number on every quote and on our website footer. Call 01209 596 002 to verify.
